Personality & Traits

General Overview Suzanna has, for a Vulcan, above average telepathic abilities. Besides being a skilled touch telepath, who studied with the Kolinarh Adepts at Gol for a year to improve her abilities to control (and shield) her telepathic skills. She is also an empath, being able to sense feelings; this is comparable to that of a 1/2 Betazoid/1/2 human hybrid of people within close proximity (5-10 metres distance max)

She tends to be fairly strict, but can be very flexible, she just needs to know when to be flexible. Although officially a Rear Admiral, when they are not near a Starbase and not in touch with anyone from Starfleet, she tends to wear her Captain's pips on the Erasmus and her crew have been told that they are to address her according to the pips.

Since so many people know her and of her career, she's never been really comfortable with her status as well-known person. She just did her job to the best of her ability, and in many ways sees the outcome of that RSR-KDF war as a personal failing. Yet so many people want to know her, talk to her and she doesn't understand why. To her, she did what anyone would have done if he or she had been in her shoes.

Despite some reconciliations during that joint SF-RSR science mission, she has a lot of pent up anger towards the Romulans in particular. Not that she would ever show that... it has been well hidden and suppressed. She has learned to be a good, and even a shrewd, politician but hated the political games that were being played when she was SF CO. It went against her personal code of conduct and honour, and it bugged her greatly that she was forced to play along at times. What got her through it all was that she remained steadfast honest and always told the truth.

The fact that there was so much backstabbing going on at HQ in particular is one reason why she places high value on selecting officers that are honest, don't twist the truth to their liking and that she can trust. She tends to be straight and to the point and doesn't beat around the bush. She is someone that leads by example and is not afraid to get her hands dirty. She would never ask someone to do something that she wouldn't want to do herself. She has high standards and expectations of her crew, but holds herself to an even higher standard. As a half Vulcan, she's never fully engaged or understood the human concept of small talk.

Personal History Suzanna was born on Vulcan to a Vulcan mother and a Human father. Her father, a diplomat, was assigned to the Terran embassy on Vulcan at the time. Her mother, a scientist, is a teacher at the Vulcan Science Academy. Before their marriage her parents had decided that their children would initially be brought up 'the Vulcan way', so that they would be better equipped to deal with their Vulcan telepathic abilities. After their sixteenth Birthday the children would be allowed to choose whether or not to continue following the logical, Vulcan way. Suzanna's elder sister T'Mel, chose the Vulcan way and is now married to a Vulcan. Suzanna and her twin brother, Anthony, however decided that there is a time and a place for emotions. Despite this decision, Suzanna did spend a year at Gol for additional training of her above average telepathic abilities. They have also inherited their father's sense of humour. Suzanna is very close to her twin Anthony who is also a Starfleet officer. Suzanna graduated from the Vulcan Science academy with full honours in sciences and also graduated from the Starfleet Academy with full honours. At Starfleet Academy she chose all available Engineering and Command courses. She has never really been able to chose between Science and engineering and was used to her full potential at her previous starship posting as a liaison between both the Science and Engineering departments of a research ship.

Her second assignment was as Chief Science Officer on the USS Cortez. The Cortez was on its way to the Delta Quadrant when one of the jumps with the space folding engines went wrong and the Cortez ended up in a different dimension. It turns out that the Cortez and its crew are unique in this dimension. Unfortunately there is no way home and consequently Suzanna has lost all her family and friends back home. After serving as Chief of Science under Captain Hawke on the USS Cortez and his Executive Officer on the USS Valiant, Suzanna was promoted to Executive Officer on the Cortez not long after Cmdr Erdem took command. She was assigned as CO of the USS Cortez when Cmdr Erdem was falsely arrested during the Starfleet Insurrection. Towards the end of the Insurrection and after Cmdr Erdem was freed by officers from the USS Cortez and USS Whitestar, Suzanna was assigned her own command of the science vessel, USS Erasmus.

After the reorganisation of Starfleet at the end of Insurrection, Suzanna was promoted first to the position of Deputy Epsilon Subfleet Commander and then as Epsilon Subfleet Commander in 2389. The same day the latter promotion came in, she led the Erasmus into dangerous last stage of her last mission as CO. Something went terribly wrong and the Erasmus ended up stranded in a distant galaxy for nearly 6 months.

While stranded in the distant galaxy, Suzanna went through her first ponn far. After attempts to resolve it on her own through meditation failed, Capt Roger Boren, who was a friend and CO of the USS Avalon, a ship that was stranded in the same galaxy, helped her resolve it. The two had been slowly building a friendship before the incident and are now telepathically bonded. Their relationship is slowly progressing after the involuntary, but unavoidable, bond.

After her return, the orders to take up the Epsilon Command Subfleet Commander position were reactivated and Suzanna stepped down as CO of the Erasmus and handed over command to Cmdr Amy DaSilva. In late 2390 FCapt Korin stepped down as Starfleet Commander and Suzanna was assigned as Acting Starfleet Commander of UCIP by the CinC. This position was confirmed on 239012.21.

Early in 2391, the KDF and RSR joined forces and attacked the Federation. A huge, but swift war ensued. The Federation lost a number of systems and the neutral zone was redrawn. Hundreds of ships and thousands of crewmembers were lost. Suzanna hated being stuck on Earth having to coordinate the war from HQ instead of being in the field more actively participating. She hated it even more that the Federation President and Security Council ordered her to order Starfleet ships to observe a cease fire after many months of fighting, and subsequently negotiations started with the RSR and KDF. Towards the end of her tenure as Starfleet Commander, she was personally invited to participate in a joint scientific mission with the Romulans by a Romulan Senator who had found a strange ancient artefact that could be linked to the the seeders that Capt Picard had encountered twenty five years prior. She wanted to ignore it, but the President ordered her to lead the Starfleet team.

What they found was a starship that was millions of years old, hidden deep below the surface on Ch'delnar. When they were able to activate it, it went on automatic pilot and took the joint Starfleet-Romulan team to a planet in the Delta Quadrant were more information on the seeders was found. FCapt Roger Boren, having a strong mental bond with Suzanna (which had finally been accepted by both) was able to stay in touch with her and was the back up safety system for the Starfleet Commander. He was CO of the Cortez, and it was the ship that had brought her into this dimension that rescued the joint mission team by staving off a Borg attack on the planet (the planet was in the middle of Borg territory) long enough to get the Starfleet team out and give the Romulans time to get their team off.

It was during the journey back to Federation space that she fell pregnant, although she didn't find out until later, the science based mission also had rekindled her 'geekiness' and reminded her that she was not suited for the desk job she had. Within two months, she resigned as SF CO and managed to get the position of CO on SB Aurora, far away from the politics and desk job on Earth. Roger was assigned as the Epsilon Fleet CO and he was based on Aurora at the time as well. When a few months later he had been given some startling news regarding his family and took an ELOA, Suzanna, now knowing she was pregnant, did the same and they left for Betazed together, with Suzanna leaving her XO, Karen McElester in command of the base. The twins were born on Betazed at the end of a 10 month gestation period.

Before all that happened, the Cortez found a strange worm hole in the Spinward March and it turns out to be a link to her home dimension. After more than ten years she was able to see her parents again and was reunited with her twin brother. After much deliberation, he travelled with her through the worm hole. Now that there was a stable worm hole, kept secret and protected, Suzanna and Anthony are able to visit their home dimension as and when needed.

Suzanna had accepted the Starfleet Science Command position, which she resigned from three years ago. She took a sabbatical and spent the last three years in her home dimension. Her human father was reaching the end of life and after all the years away, Suzanna wanted to spend quality time with him. Her children had all joined Starfleet by then and were either at the Academy or already on active assignment.

Having returned from her home dimension, Suzanna took the positon of Fleet Science for Epislon Fleet.
