| General Overview | Very organized and detail oriented. Prides herself on her efficiency and likes to be the one who know where everything is, and who to talk to for any answer necessary. And she does this without getting ruffled or overwhelmed. If you need it, she will likely hand it to you before you ask. She quiet and introverted in private, but is able to interact warmly with all ages and ranks and strata of society. | |
| Strengths & Weaknesses | She is a jack of all trades. Knows a lot about a lot of stuff, from engineering to birthing babies. She reads all the time and has an excellent memory for what she reads. She fast, efficient and dependable. Being half El-Aurian, she has a great propensity for storytelling and the collecting of lore and myth, and incredible intuition. She can be impatient with people who do not think or act as fast as her brain is able to move. She is reluctant to share much of her personal life and so no one knows a whole lot about her past or her inner challenges, which include recovery from intense child abuse. She sees a counselor regularly for this issue, but does not talk about it outside the the Dr's office. She is subject to pondering dark subject that she has to literally shake off to stop them from encroaching upon her waking life. She has bad dreams, but does not remember them upon waking. |

| Personal History | Kate Nichols-Cherbourg was born to Richard Nichols and Reenay Cherbourg on October 31, 2394, coming up on 31 years ago. Her father, Nichols, was human and Cherbourg, her mother, was El-Aurian. It was a difficult pregnancy for the mother, and the baby girl was born early. Modern medicine being the miracle worker it can be, saved Kate’s life and she grew into a healthy young woman who wanted to travel the galaxy, perhaps in search of the roots of her mother’s stories. As a child and young teen, she and her mother were severely abused, physically and emotionally by the psychopathic, alcoholic father who refused any sort of medical treatment at all, including for extreme headaches, which drove him to drink as his only relief. His behavior was erratic and violent toward both Reenay and Kate. Eventually, Cherbourg took Kate (age 13) and left the man and moved to Denobula. But much damage had been done to both mother and daughter, and to their relationship. Reenay had believed she could help Richard and to a significant degree neglected the pain her daughter was enduring to prove to herself she could make a difference in Richard’s life. Kate left home for college at 17, just 4 years after leaving Richard, which was precious little time for mother and daughter to repair the relationship that had suffered for the previous 13 years. Kate went to college, majoring in nursing, until 2414, and hated it. She left college and joined Starfleet but refused to be pressured into the medical field. In 2418, she graduated with honors from Academy in San Francisco as an administrative management specialist. She was immediately stationed as Rear Admiral Blokpoel’s personal yeoman and has traveled to all subsequent postings with the now Vice Admiral, including the recent move to Starbase 369. |
